The Village of Germantown Hills maintains a wastewater collection and treatment system
that is operated in a manner to meet the requirements of the Illinois Environmental
Protection Agency.
The original sewer plant, located on Woodland Knolls Road, was built in 1976, and is sized to handle approximately 2000 people.
A new sewer plant with the capacity for an additional 2000 people, and room for further growth, was completed in 1997. It is located south of Rte 116.
Both sewer plants use modern aerated digestion processes. Compressed air is
used to prevent the formation of anaerobic bacteria. Since the anaerobic
bacteria are what cause odor, our plants run odor free.
